Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride! - Unknown

My Update on LIFE.... with lots of pictures!

Well, I have been very remiss on updating my blog and I am hoping to improve on that. I'm sorry for anyone that was checking in regularly and I'm going to try and work on not allowing that to happen again...... but that little event called LIFE sometimes gets in the way. As most of you know, I have been taking care of my two houses (one on each side of the Chesapeake Bay) along with my Mom's house since her passing. Trying to keep up with 3 sets of lawns needing mowing, upkeep, bills and then working full time and raising 2 kids have really made it hard to sometimes manage to sit down and take a breath. Now onto my update of the last month of stitching, reading and some family entertainment......

Stitching wise, it has been slow but in the last week or two I have been really enjoying this craft again. The local needlework shop (LNS for us stitchers!) have been asking friends of mine if I'm still stitching, if I'm okay, and what is up with me since I haven't shopped there except one time in the 5 months since my Mom died. Normally I am the stash shop-a-holic who can't say NO to the latest pattern, pretty fabric that just begs to go home with me, new floss skeins requiring fondling by stitchers (don't all threads require fondling???) and all the gadgets and gizmo's which come out during the year. I need the SA (Stash Anonymous) meetings for stitchers which has reached SABLE (Stash Acquisition Beyond Life Expectancy)....... :)

I have been working a lot on my Kind Fond Love Sampler by Brenda Keyes and also on a few other projects which I had been working on when my Mom was hospitalized and when she came home. I have been rotating between 4 projects while working on KFL (Kind Fond Love) just to give my ADHD tendencies a chance to see other items. They are a biscornu (my first one) from the Floss Box which is a free pattern, LK's monthly stamp-its (currently February is being worked), BRD (Blue Ribbon Designs) Tiny Trees and Gifts for Thee. I did stitch a birthday fairy for my cousin which I want to turn into a pillow for her. Here is pictures of my stitching progresses.

Here is my Lizzie Kate Monthly Stamp-It and my BRD in progress.....

And here is some update pictures (overall and closeups of my BRD sampler......

Finally, here is a picture of a project from earlier this year. I had worked on a Friendship Quilt for Sue V. from my group, ESC. She is a very special person who I got to meet over my birthday weekend at the Ocean City Retreat. I enjoyed making this Lizzie Kate design for her but had to wait to share it so it wouldn't ruin the surprise..... :)

Reading: I have been reading my Monica Ferris Needlework series again. It is such a light hearted read which has been thoroughly enjoyable and easy to enjoy. I have finished the Twilight series as well since I have a 14 year old niece that enjoyed hearing that her Aunt and her had read something in common. Next up will be Ken Follet's latest novel, World Without End.

The other night after working for 10 1/2 hours (did I mention I've been having a lot of extra hours at work to complicate the home life too??????), the family went to Medieval Times. This is a really neat show based with knights jousting, sword fighting, javelin throwing, and showing equestrian skills from the Renaissance period. There is even a king, prince and princess in the show which is a dinner/show combination. The kids really enjoy this venue and it always provides an entertaining evening.

Life does have a way of getting "in the way" of such things (as blogging) - but please don't feel the need to apologize. It seems that you have had a lot to deal with since your mother's passing. I am grateful that you found time to sit & stitch and hope that you found some relaxation in that. Take care!

Wow you are a busy person. Your stitching looks great and looks like you had fun at the mid evil place. Oh, thanks for stopping by my blog.
