Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride! - Unknown

A Very Long Overdue Update

Seems like from May until the end of the school year our household becomes completely overwhelmed and time slips away every year. Again I have been remiss on updating this blog for those of you who have been so faithful in following me along in this journey called life, and for that I apologize. Let me see if I can update on you all the going-ons in our family life for the past month; at least the highlights.
Of course, May started off with my birthday, turning 39 wasn't a really big deal of course but you realize that the big 4-0 will be right around the corner and you start wondering how the next chapter of your life will compare. I received some wonderful presents from stitchers and a beautiful assortment of cards as well. Mylene made me a gorgeous scissor fob which just really made my day when I opened the package. Our own Cowgirl Chris sent me one of the series of patterns from Joan Elliott for the Musician which is called the Reader.

Mother's Day was spent with family having a cookout and just spending time together. Just a lazy day spent stitching and that afternoon we had a severe rain storm. I don't think I have ever seen rain come down as hard and fast as I had that day in my life.

Becky's school competed in a music competition the following weekend down in Fredericksburg, Virginia and won 1st place in their division. After the musical performance, the group traveled over to Kings Dominion for the day and the kids and I rode roller coasters. Since neither of the kids had ever been on a "big" rollercoaster this was a lot of fun. Of course, Ray was not impressed at all with one called 'The Shockwave' as this description of the ride will tell you, "That loopty-loop made me want to loopty-puke!" Perhaps he will not be such a dare devil after all.

Of course, I have been stitching along on projects such as the Musician during this time. I do have one picture of the Musician after a girl night with Beth watching movies and stitching. We had a great time and are hoping we can do this again soon.
Becky has bridged into Cadette Girl Scouts this spring and will be continuing the adventure in September. She went camping this spring with the troop and is still very much enjoying the scouting adventure. This picture is of Becky and two of her best friends, Caralynn and Angel..... what hams!

Spring Concerts have been held for the end of the school year at both schools and is the signal that the long days of summer are right around the corner.

Knitting has been progressing a little at a time. I have more than doubled my scarf's length since my last update on it. Unfortunately I have found that my hands do not always cooperate with knitting since my stroke in February; but I am not willing to give up my efforts. So I pick this project up here and there and find that I accomplish most while riding along on trips and travels.

Memorial Day..... A day of remembrance of reflection was spent placing flags on the local Veteran's Cemetery with the Cub scouts. Ray took this as a very solemn duty and I was very proud of the boys and families who came out to remember those who have fought for our country.

So this is my update for the month of May. Some days I felt like I was going to bump into myself coming and going but I would not change one moment if I could. Life is an adventure and one that needs to be enjoyed and I am hoping I am catching every moment I can.

Until next time, keep you stitching and knitting needles movin', spend time with family and friends and most of all, enjoy life!
