I received a wonderful surprise in the mail today from
Berly for the Spring Exchange in the
ILCS group on Yahoo. When I opened the box, it just seemed the surprises just kept coming and coming and I really was blown away by the generosity shown by my blogging buddy!
I received a Mill Hill kit called Happy Day, a couple of DMC flosses, an adorable tin hand painted by our the gift giver herself and filled with yummy chocolate and a beautiful piece of Silkweaver 28-count even weave called Tropical Breeze. Now I'll just have to find a divine pattern for this beautiful fabric...... Thank you so much Berly ~ you really know how to spoil a girl rotten!!!!

Stitching wise, last week I while flipping through cross stitch magazines and pattern books looking for something that would cry "Stitch Me!" for my partner in another Spring Exchange in
Every Stitch Counts, I found a little scissor fob design which just caught my eye. I pulled out a small piece of fabric from my stitching stash and completed the front of the scissor fob over the week in between kid activities and feeling crappy due to a sinus infection. As you can see it is a dogwood blossom and I loved the bright, cheerful colors in the design. I think I'm going to stitch my monogram on another piece with the same blue border surrounding it and attach it to a pair of my scissors which will be nice when I'm attending stitch-ins or stitching away from home.
Dogwood Scissor Fob
from Cross Stitch Gold magazine
April 2011 issue
32ct. evenweave (Lambswool I believe)
Fibers used: DMC threads
I finally decided on my Spring Exchange piece and while I'll not show you the progress on it; I will promise to show you a picture when it has safely arrived with it's new owner on the other side of the Pond. I can tell you it is a Prairie Schooler design which caught my eye and I am hoping my exchange partner loves her designs as much as I do. Hopefully I can complete the stitching in the next week or so and then I'll just need to find that perfect fabric for the pillow. Wish me luck!
Of course, I really felt guilty when I looked over at my Musician this week. You see, the poor girl felt like she was being sat in the corner (of my stitching table, that is) while I busily rushed around the house or sat down to work on the dogwood blossom and stitchy gift. Last night, I did a little stitching on her and I once again had to make myself sit her down to go to bed. The bad news it was after 1:30 a.m. and I had to be up by 6:15 the next morning!

Knitting wise, I haven't really done much but I am taking a class on an enterlac scarf this upcoming weekend with my cousin, Sharon. Wish me luck because some folks say it is very difficult and others say it isn't at all. While this jury is still out on the verdict, I'll share with you what I learned in the class and hopefully I can start spending some more time on Ray's scarf as well. Until next time, keep your stitchin' and knittin' needles moving, spend time with friends and family and most of all, enjoy life!

Oh, you have to stitch some eyes on that poor girl! ;-)
Looking forward to seeing your finished scissor fob.
Nice exchange, too.
The Musician is already a very lovely lady, she'll be so beautiful when you complete her. Entrelac is not very complicated, it came very easily to me, and I'm certainly not the most experienced knitter out here. It does give such wonderful results, especially with today's great colorways and self-striping yarns. Enjoy the class.
What a thoughtful exchange you got in the mail, I always love happy mail! Your fob is beautiful, will be even more so when it is finished. Your progress on the musician is coming along as well. Have a good week.
What a great package. Enjoy all your new goodies.
